Mild steel (sometimes referred to as “plain” steel) is a material that consists mainly of carbon and iron. This is a very attractive option for a wide range of applications due to its relatively low cost compared to other materials as well as its wide variety of applications. These applications include guarding, railing infills, cabinetry and millwork, and filtration.

One thing that must be taken into consideration when working with plain steel is that bare mild steel will rust and corrode over time. In some cases even the moisture in the air in indoor applications can cause unfinished plain steel to rust. A slightly more expensive alternative to this would be our stainless steel woven and welded wire mesh line of products which are rust and corrosion resistant and suitable for outdoor use.
